Caves & Mines

Samos is a Greek island of great history and archeological value that goes back many centuries.

Samos has about 70 discovered caves. You will find large stalactite caves, public caves with small chapels and about 100 ancient Mines of geological interest. These caves are currently being explored by the members of the Efpalinos Club of Samos.

Along with the speleological trained members of the Efpalinos Club of Samos, the members of the Outdoor Group participate in caves and mines explorations organized by the club. These efforts are supported by the Prefecture Samos, the Municipalities of Samos, and the Hellenic Federation of Speleology, and have been given permission by the Paleoanthro-pological Division of the Ministry of Culture of North Greece.

The Efpalinos Club's main objective is to preserve these unique historical and natural monuments for the future.
