Samos is still recovering form the most recent wildfires in 1998 and 2000 destroying most of the lush forests on the south of the island. but the northern half of the island still has the lush pine and cypress forests to amble through. samos is ideal for hiking, terkking, long walks and mountain biking. with rugged rarely visited terrain covering over 90 percent of the island the other 10 being beaches.
